Force K-Chlor Sub 565 KCl Substitute – The Clay & Shale Stabilizer
Force K-Chlor sub 565 is a kcl substitute that acts as a clay stabilizer with a combination chemistry consisting of quaternary amines, cationic surfactants, and quaternary polyamine designed to stabilize reactive clay and shale when drilled with water-based drilling fluids or stimulated with fluids that may induce swelling. The product was designed primarily to be used as a potassium chloride (KCl) brine substitute and has a proven track record of successful use providing outstanding performance and onsite savings over brine salts for superior swelling control.

K-Chlor Sub 565 will not affect the permeability as many competing treatments do and are compatible with polymers and lubricants required for speedy drilling and lowered friction coefficients. The product is extremely effective at low concentrations and can be added readily to the system without shear. The product has applications in drilling, rock acidizing, fracturing and aqueous pre-flush fluids that makes it an excellent shale stabilizer.

KCI Substitute Product Advantages:

  • Broad spectrum use includes KCl substitute, acidizing, fracturing, drilling, and aqueous flushing fluids.
  • Excellent use cost due to low use rates and ease of mud blending; concentrated product reduces logistics and operations costs.
  • Effectively passes all major oilfield company in-house and independent lab tests for product efficacy.
  • Compatible with most fluid systems and lubrication or friction reduction chemistries, as well as brine and solids intrusion during drill outs.
  • Performs well over a wide pH range and is soluble in all types of aqueous solutions.
  • Thermally stable downhole (>400°F) in drilling & completion environments.
  • Works well with ForcePac corrosion inhibitor and increases oil well production due to superior shale stabilization qualities.
  • Some customers claim mud formation improvements even over traditional KCL water.

Top performing KCl substitute used at half the rates of competitive compounds based on polyquats that prevent formation damage during downhole operations. Excellent clay stabilizer. Application ratio is SUPERIOR to competing brands. Significantly superior vs. actual KCL 3%, 15%, 30% & enables users to get away from KCL brine water. One tote is more affordable than 130 barrels of KCL water. Especially with transportation and freight issues associate with KCL water. Also utilizes considerably less storage space versus traditional KCL water brines.

Shale Stabilizer Application:

K-Chlor Sub 565 should be applied at the rate of 0.10% (1,000 ppm) to 0.4% (4,000 ppm) depending on the severity of known swelling in a formation. Generally 0.125% (1,250 ppm) will deliver outstanding results in the most difficult situations. When substituting a KCl 5% solution in problematic mud zones, apply 0.4% (4,000 ppm) in order to outperform the equivalent offshore water brine solution. If possible, avoid using products with high levels of anionic surfactants. PPM equals parts per million. This is a superior application ratio compared to many competing clay stabilizers.
